Run on both days of the Festival, each slot lasts a maximum of 20 minutes on this very popular stage. Times and location yet to be decided. Register your interest on the day - slots will be allocated on a first come, first served basis. Please note - no drum kits - percussion is OK, but it must be carried on and off the stage quickly. Also, no backline amps - we have limited power outlets available for this stage, so guitars have to go directly into the PA, foldback will be provided. On Saturday evening only, the Buskers Stage will host our acoustic singer/songwriters. Dance - sorry, but due to space and acoustic constraints we are not able to offer a dedicated Dance Stage this year. WHAT ELSE IS AVAILABLE? NEW for 2010 Multi-media marquee, 'THIS IS ART' - Set up for the first time in 2010, This Is Art Marquee will include a small stage for drama and dance, poetry and comedy, magic and song, with the audience benefitting from close proximity to the artists. We have a very exciting line-up on both days. The other end of the marquee will display winning entries to our photography competition as well as the children's story-writing competition, amongst other exciting projects. Awards for the competition entries will be presented on Sunday from the Riverside Stage. MORE Children's entertainment - The Riverside Festival has always been a family event, with a host of entertainment, including Taylors Amusements. A dedicated Children's Marquee this year will again host a variety of entertainment and workshops, details to be confirmed shortly. Next to the children's marquee, on both Saturday and Sunday a Storyteller will be present, Sophie Snell on Saturday and the Yarnsmith of Norwich on Sunday. BE CREATIVE Competitions - For 2010 Riverside Festival are running competitions for children and young people, in Poetry, Photography and/or Short Story Writing. Judging is currently taking place and the winners will be announced on Sunday 4 July. Winning entries will be exhibited at the Festival in our This Is Arts Marquee, in Stamford Library, and be printed in the Stamford Mercury. Entry was free and open to competitors between 11 and 19 years of age at 3 July 2010 attending a school within a 20mile distance from Stamford Meadows. Only one entry to each competition, per competitor. Poems, on the theme 'Let's Celebrate', must not be longer than 30 lines excluding the title. Stories, with the theme 'The Adventure Starts Here', should be no longer than 1,000 words. The Photographic theme is 'Music Through The Lens', and photos should be a print of minimum 7" by 5" in monochrome or colour.
BEER FESTIVAL - Within our giant marquee, 40 real ales are on offer, selected from mainly local breweries including Newby Wyke, Oakham Ales, Wolf Headless, Digfield, Greenjack, Crouch Vale, Red Lion, Sadlers, Sarah Hughes, Thornbridge, Tower and others. There are also 20 real ciders to refresh the palate and challenge the brain cells. But if you're in a hurry to get back to the music, the Express can bar allows you to skip the queues. There will also be a Pimms bar on site. The Beer Festival is once more run directly in association with Bourne Round Table. Half of the profits of every drink go to the Riverside Festival, the other half go to other local charities - so please buy your drinks on site and support good causes. AND REMEMBER please that NO alcohol is allowed to be brought onto the site. Any cans and bottles will be confiscated at the gate, as will any unsealed plastic bottles.
